Well done to everyone who experienced sleeping outside on the concrete, and a special shout out to our teams: PA Housing, Unite Students, Central England Co-op, Morro Partnerships, Leicestershire Law Society, Foxes Trust, WBR Group, Good Name Pending, Make Change Team and WBR Group
All of the money raised from Sleep Easy benefits local young people and adults who are experiencing homelessness. by enabling YMCA Leicestershire provide safe and welcoming housing for homeless people aged 16-25, as well as personalised skills sessions to enable young people move forward positively with their lives.
The charity also offers a safe and welcoming environment for street sleepers of all ages to get some home comforts such as a cup of tea, breakfast and clean clothes, as well as advice on finding suitable accommodation and support for issues such as poor mental health, unemployment and loneliness.
Our Sleep Easy gives you the chance to spend a night pitch-side, under the stars at Leicester City’s King Power Stadium. Whilst we know this won’t replicate what it really feels like to be homeless, participants will raise awareness and vital funds by swapping their beds for cardboard boxes on the concrete.
You must be 18 to take part in the event and alcohol will not be permitted on site. Once pitch side places are filled we will allocate places in the concourse. Participant data will be shared with Leicester City Football Club for the purpose of running the event safely. You can view the attached event pack for the itinerary and kit list.
In addition to the entrance fee we expect participants to raise sponsorship from friends, family and colleagues for taking part in this challenge. We have not set a minimum target because we understand people have different life circumstances. We just ask that you set up a fundraising page and actively fundraise to support YMCA Leicestershire.
If you want to do more to help, there are other ways you can be involved. You could sponsor our cardboard boxes or breakfast, donate a prize, play music, volunteer, take photos… We’d LOVE to have you on-board!
