Donating goods for young people to our Leicester locations

We take items directly at our city locations that are for the benefit of our residents while they are in our supported housing or as they prepare to move into their own home. We’re sorry we can’t store and transport donations for the charity shop, therefore there are items we just cannot accept. To help us manage space, please get in touch to let us know when and what you will be donating [email protected]

We’re happy to receive:

  • New or nearly new coats, hoodies and jumpers (please bear in mind our residents are aged 16-25)
  • New, unopened toiletries, washing powder, toilet roll (NO razors)
  • Food (within its use by date)
  • New or nearly new towels and bed covers (sheets/pillow cases suitable for a double bed)
  • New Kitchenware (cutlery/crockery/pans etc)
  • Good Condition DVDs
  • Good quality/Clean Rugs
  • TVs, Hoovers and other Electrical Items (please enquire if you are interested in donating)
  • Computer Games, Consoles etc and Laptops (please enquire if you are interested in donating)
  • Good quality Musical Instruments (please enquire if you are interested in donating)

Things we need MOST:

We regularly update this to reflect what residents and homeless service users ask us for.

  • Socks and pants for men (S, M, L) and women (sizes 10, 12, 14)
  • New Towels
  • Coats (good condition/ suitable for 16 – 25)
  • Washing Powder
  • Toilet roll

What we can’t accept

  • Items in poor condition or damaged
  • Clothing (unless mentioned above)
  • Duvets and pillows (can take covers)
  • Baby/Children’s Clothing
  • Out of date food
  • Cds
  • Bric a Brac
  • Our shop will take more items – see below

YMCA Charity Shop

This new year why not tackle two resolutions in one… by supporting your local YMCA Charity Shop, you will be making a difference for disadvantaged young people , as well as choosing a more sustainable way to shop! The store also welcomes donations of clothes, books, CDs, toys and bric-a-brac – please drop in or contact them to find out more.
